What it does
Recall.ai is an API that takes in meetings from video conferencing platforms, phone calls, and in-person conversations and returns recordings, speaker-labeled transcripts, audio and video streams, participant details, and meeting metadata. Data can be retrieved in real time during a meeting or asynchronously after it ends. Its Output Media APIs can also send chat messages, audio, or video into a meeting.
Developers use it as the meeting data layer for notetakers, AI meeting agents, sales and recruiting tools, and compliance workflows. The Meeting Bot API joins a meeting as a visible bot, the Desktop Recording SDK records through an installed desktop app without a bot in the call, and the Calendar API supplies participant emails and meeting titles. Each speaker's audio is captured separately so transcripts attribute lines to the right person.
This suits engineering teams building meeting features rather than end users wanting a finished app. The Pay As You Go plan is priced at $0.50 per hour of recording, with 5 free hours on sign-up. The Desktop SDK requires a lightweight desktop app on the user's computer, and the Mobile Recording SDK is listed as coming soon.
