What it does
Screenpipe records screen activity and audio on macOS, Windows, and Linux, and keeps that history on your device by default. You can search captured text and conversations by topic, date, or app, and revisit a moment on a timeline with the source material attached.
People use it to find repeated steps across apps, draft procedures from recorded work, recover meeting decisions, and pick up unfinished tasks. It exposes a local REST API and an MCP server so assistants such as Claude Desktop or Cursor can query the history, and you can choose local or cloud AI models.
It suits individuals and operations or consulting teams who want to reuse their work history. The packaged desktop app requires sign-in, and a paid plan is needed beyond the free tier. Typical use takes about 5-10 GB of disk per month of continuous recording, and commercial use of the published source requires a commercial license.
