What it does
Speak is an AI language learning app for practicing spoken conversation in a target language. Learners take in lessons built around phrases native speakers use and speak responses aloud; the app returns real-time feedback on pronunciation and phrasing, along with lesson progress, review and personalized practice. English speakers can learn Spanish, French, Korean, Japanese, Italian and Simplified Chinese.
Lessons introduce useful phrases, ask learners to speak them in new situations, and move into back-and-forth conversation with the AI tutor. Both Premium and Premium Plus include the curriculum, roleplay, Ask Tutor and Smart Review. Premium includes a daily allowance of Made for You and personalized tutor lessons; Plus removes those limits and adds a personal study plan and targeted practice for frequent mistakes. Pronunciation Coach is currently specified for English learners.
Speak suits beginners and learners who can recall vocabulary but freeze when speaking. Learning is through the Speak app on iOS and Android; website signup is available, and it begins with a 7-day free trial followed by a paid subscription. Key limitations: pricing varies by region and promotion, not every language is offered, and feedback quality depends on the app's speech recognition during practice.
