Topaz Gigapixel
Desktop AI image upscaler from Topaz Labs with local and cloud rendering
- Tool type
- AI image upscaling software
- Made for
- Photographers, artists, designers
- Runs on
- Mac and Windows desktop
- Local or cloud rendering; Photoshop and Lightroom plugins
What it does
Topaz Gigapixel takes existing photos or artwork and produces larger, sharper versions. It works as an AI upscaler, adding detail rather than just stretching pixels, and offers a set of enhancement models for different content: general photos, low-resolution sources, text and shapes, art and CG, and face recovery. The page describes lossless zoom for cropping in and says it can upscale almost any image up to 6x.
People run it as a standalone desktop app or as a plugin for Photoshop and Lightroom Classic. A typical use is enlarging an image before printing, recovering soft or noisy shots taken in difficult light, or restoring old scans. Each image can be rendered locally, which keeps files on your computer, or in the cloud to take load off your hardware. Both are described as unlimited with a subscription.
It suits photographers, fine artists, designers, illustrators and creative teams, including those who handle confidential material and prefer local processing. It is available for Mac and Windows and requires a paid subscription. The Personal tier covers commercial use only for organizations under $1M USD annual revenue; larger organizations need a Pro licence. Cloud rendering has concurrency limits (2 on Personal, 4 on Pro), and the page does not list output formats.
