What it does

Type is an AI-assisted writing editor for long-form creative work such as books, novels, screenplays, and stories. It combines a word-processor-style editor with an integrated AI chat assistant for drafting, revising, and reviewing text, so a draft and its assistant live in one place.

A Notes feature stores details about characters, settings, and scenes, which Type takes into account when giving writing help. Writers can also create custom writing rules to match their style, import Word documents and PDFs, and export drafts as DOCX, PDF, or a view-only URL, or generate a narrated audio track. Editing and writing features are designed for documents up to 150,000 words.
