What it does

Uthana turns text, 2D video or real-time control into structured 3D human movement. Users can describe an action, sequence, pacing and style; extract editable motion from video; or generate locomotion from direction, speed and trajectory. Outputs include character motion for animation and structured movement data for training. Its tools can retarget movement across character skeletons, convert it to robot-specific joint representations, and automatically rig an unrigged character. Motion can be downloaded in formats including FBX and GLB.

The product is aimed at developers integrating motion into an engine or pipeline, robotics and simulation teams, and 3D production and game studios. It is available through a web app, a GraphQL API, and public plugins for Blender and Maya. API use requires an Uthana account and API key; developers can use the Python or JavaScript/TypeScript clients or make GraphQL requests. To get started, sign up, prepare or upload a character model, then generate and download motion. Self-serve use draws from a shared credit balance; generation and operations are charged at published unit rates. Dataset work and custom engagements are scoped separately.

What it can do

  • Generate editable 3D character motion from text prompts
  • Extract structured 3D motion from 2D video
  • Generate responsive locomotion from direction, speed and trajectory
  • Retarget motion across character skeletons and robot embodiments
  • Automatically rig 3D characters
  • License or prepare motion datasets with labels and metadata

Works with

  • Blender
  • Maya

Before you choose

  • Uthana stopped offering new subscriptions in August 2026; self-serve use is pay-as-you-go from a shared credit balance.
  • Published usage rates vary by model and meter: most motion generation is charged per second of output, video-to-motion per input second, and rigging per operation.
  • Dataset licensing and custom data, simulation and integration engagements are scoped rather than listed at fixed public prices.
  • Plugins require an account, API key and internet: Blender 4.0+, or Maya 2023+ with Python 3.9+ and the FBX plugin.

Get started

For API use, the quickstart requires an Uthana account and API key. Custom datasets and scoped engagements are discussed with Uthana.

  1. Create an Uthana account; for API use, obtain an API key in account settings.
  2. For character-specific motion, upload an FBX or glTF character model through the web UI, or use the default character.
  3. Generate motion in the web app or through the API, then download the result in a supported format.
