What it does
Vellum is a personal AI assistant that works on your behalf across your email, calendar, chats, and files. It can send emails, manage your calendar, browse the web, create slides, write code, run deep research, monitor websites, and execute recurring tasks in the background. Built-in skills cover Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, and your filesystem, and it can be extended with community plugins or custom skills.
Its main distinguishing feature is long-term memory: the same identity, memory, chats, and schedules are available across Mac, iOS, Android, web, voice, email, Telegram, Slack, and terminal. Typical uses include morning briefings, inbox triage, reminders, invoice follow-ups, and standup notes. Sensitive actions such as emailing new contacts or spending credits ask for approval until you mark them as trusted.
It fits individuals and small teams who want an assistant that acts for them and retains context over time. Vellum is free to download and start, and Vellum Cloud subscription plans start at $30/month. By default the assistant runs locally, but prompts and context are sent to a cloud AI provider to generate responses, and some skills need one-time setup.
