What it does
Weka is a Java machine-learning workbench for students, researchers and data practitioners. Its Explorer interface supports loading data, preprocessing attributes, training classification or regression models, clustering, association-rule discovery, attribute selection and visualization. Users can compare models and inspect evaluation results, including cross-validation, while Java APIs and command-line interfaces support repeatable workflows and integration into other programs.
Download the package matching Windows, macOS or Linux and the machine’s processor. Some installers bundle Java; archive-based installations require a suitable runtime. Weka 3.8 is the stable branch and 3.9 the development branch. Load a dataset, choose preprocessing and learning methods, then evaluate results before applying a model to new records. The software is available under the GPL; redistributing it in incompatible proprietary software may require a separately purchased license from the relevant copyright holders. Additional packages need an internet connection, and data quality and evaluation design remain the user’s responsibility.
What it can do
- Preprocess datasets and attributes
- Train classification and regression models
- Cluster records and discover association rules
- Select useful attributes
- Evaluate models with cross-validation
- Visualize data and model results
Before you choose
- Weka 3.9 is the development version and may include changes that break compatibility; Weka 3.8 is the stable branch.
- The package manager needs an internet connection to download and install packages.
- GPL redistribution obligations apply; incompatible proprietary redistribution may require a separate commercial license.
