What it does

Wispr Flow takes in spoken audio from your microphone and produces typed text that is cleaned up as you speak. It removes filler words, handles self-corrections, adds punctuation, and formats output such as lists or emails, then types the result wherever your cursor is. Its separate Notetaker feature records meetings on a Mac or Windows computer and produces a transcript with named speakers, a topic-organized summary, and next steps.

People use Flow to draft messages, emails, notes, and prompts for AI tools without typing, and to keep a personal dictionary of names and jargon so recognition improves over time. Snippets let you speak a shortcut to insert frequently used text such as addresses or links. Notetaker meeting notes can be used in Claude and ChatGPT through MCP, and the product supports more than 100 languages with a language picker in the Flow bar.

Flow suits individuals who write a lot on a desktop or phone, and teams that want shared dictionaries, centralized billing, or admin controls. Dictation is available on Mac, Windows, iPhone, and Android, and the free plan includes weekly word limits. Notetaker runs only on Mac and Windows. The page advises against AirPods or Bluetooth earbuds for dictation because they can reduce accuracy.

What it can do

  • Speech-to-text dictation in any app where the cursor can type, with no plugins required
  • Automatic removal of filler words, self-corrections, and repetitions while dictating
  • Automatic punctuation and formatting, including numbered lists and structured emails
  • Personal dictionary that learns names and jargon, plus snippets triggered by spoken shortcuts
  • Recognition in 100+ languages with a language picker in the Flow bar
  • AI Notetaker for Mac and Windows that produces transcripts with speaker names, summaries, and next steps

Works with

  • Model Context Protocol (MCP) access so Notetaker meeting notes can be used in Claude, ChatGPT, and other AI tools

Example workflows

Dictating a status update message
Illustrative example. Input: spoken rambling about a delayed launch with a self-correction. Steps: select English, dictate in the messaging app, let Flow remove filler and apply the correction. Output: a short cleaned message stating the new launch date and when a firm timeline will follow.
Capturing meeting notes
Illustrative example. Input: an audio meeting on Zoom or Google Meet recorded by Notetaker on a Mac or Windows computer. Steps: start Notetaker, let it record, review the generated transcript. Output: a transcript with speakers named, a topic summary, and listed next steps, which can be queried in Claude or ChatGPT via MCP.

Before you choose

  • Notetaker is limited to Mac and Windows; mobile support is listed as on the roadmap.
  • The free plan has a 2,000-word weekly limit on desktop and limited weekly use on mobile; unlimited dictation requires Pro.
  • Accuracy may drop with AirPods or Bluetooth earbuds; a built-in or nearby microphone is recommended.
