- Tool type
- Credit-based 3D world generation API
- Made for
- Developers integrating world generation
- Runs on
- HTTP API called from client code
- Called over HTTP with examples in curl, JavaScript, and Python.
What it does
World API takes text prompts, single images, multiple images of one scene, or video and returns an asynchronous Operation object that tracks the generation of a 3D world. Generated worlds can be exported as GLB meshes or PLY splats through the Export API. Developers poll the operation until the world is ready, then retrieve the finished world from the response.
Developers call the /marble/v1/worlds:generate endpoint with a model such as marble-1.1 or marble-1.1-plus, authenticating with an API key sent in a WLT-Api-Key header. Requests consume credits: panorama generation and world generation are metered separately, so one request often produces two usage events. Credits purchased for the Marble web app cannot be used with the API; API credits must be bought on the World Labs Platform.
This suits developers building 3D world generation into their own software who are comfortable with API-key authentication and metered billing. Access requires a World Labs Platform account, a payment method, and purchased credits. Overage charges for usage beyond prepaid credits are billed after each month ends, and auto-refill does not cap spending, so usage should be monitored closely.
What it can do
- Generate 3D worlds from a text prompt via the /marble/v1/worlds:generate endpoint.
- Generate worlds from a single image, multiple images of one scene, or a video.
- Choose between marble-1.1 (standard) and marble-1.1-plus (larger worlds) models.
- Export GLB meshes through the Export API.
- Export PLY splats through the Export API.
- Check credit balance and usage events, with optional auto-refill to top up low balances.
Example workflows
- Text-to-world generation
- Input: a text prompt and display name. Steps: POST to /marble/v1/worlds:generate with model marble-1.1 and a world_prompt of type text. Output: an Operation object with an operation_id to poll for completion.
- Mesh export of a generated world
- Input: a completed world. Steps: call the Export API with asset_type mesh and format glb. Output: a GLB mesh containing textured and vertex_colored variants, billed once per world at 3,500 credits.
Before you choose
- API credits come from the World Labs Platform and are separate from Marble app credits, which cannot be used with the API.
- Overage charges for usage beyond prepaid credits are billed after the month ends and are not capped by auto-refill being off.
