Dosu
Shared knowledge infrastructure that keeps team documentation current and supplies coding agents with reusable context.
- Tool type
- Knowledge infrastructure for teams and coding agents
- Made for
- Individual developers and engineering teams
- Runs on
- Hosted web app, API, MCP server, and CLI
- The CLI installs locally and connects a coding agent to Dosu's MCP server; the service also offers API access.
What it does
Dosu captures knowledge from coding-agent sessions and team work, then makes it available across connected agents and tools. It can monitor GitHub or GitLab changes, maintain documentation in place, generate requested docs, and expose shared context through its MCP server and web chat. Knowledge is human-readable Markdown and Open Knowledge Format compatible; outputs can include updated documentation and reusable agent skills.
It is aimed at individual developers and engineering teams using coding agents. The hosted service connects to repositories and, on paid plans, tools such as Slack, Confluence, Coda, and Notion. Agents can connect through MCP; the CLI configures that connection and keeps the Dosu agent skill current. Supported agent names include Claude, Cursor, Codex, Gemini, and Windsurf.
Getting started requires a Dosu account; API and MCP use require authentication by OAuth 2.0 or API key. The free tier covers public repositories and includes 200 monthly credits. Free excludes private repositories and several SaaS integrations, while Pro lists 4,000 monthly credits and a $16/month rate billed $192 upfront. Additional credits are available on Pro; confirm service behavior when an allowance is exhausted.
