What it does
Emdash is an open-source desktop environment for developers working with coding agents. Create tasks that run agents in separate Git worktrees, run several agents in parallel, and inspect their changes in a side-by-side diff view. You can review and iterate on work, then open a pull request from the app.
The app also schedules recurring agent runs, previews local or remote development servers in an in-app browser, and provides integrations for importing issues from services including Linear, Jira, GitHub, Notion, and Asana. Its reusable-resource library manages prompts, skills, and MCP servers; it also supports remote development over SSH and displays GitHub Actions checks.
Emdash is intended for developers coordinating agent-assisted software work. The current documentation describes a desktop app for macOS, Windows, and Linux. The site advertises a download and calls Emdash free and open source; it does not establish whether agents, model usage, or remote compute are included at no cost. The site also promotes Emdash 2.0 as early access via a waitlist, so that offer should not be conflated with the documented desktop product.

Before you choose
- The main site lists 25+ supported agents while the docs list 34 CLI-based agents; supported-provider counts may vary across page versions.
- The vendor information does not confirm whether agent/model usage, provider subscriptions, or remote infrastructure costs are included in the free, open-source app.
- Emdash 2.0 is separately presented as early access through a waitlist; its cloud-first positioning should not be assumed to describe the current desktop app.
