Junie

What it does

Junie takes a coding task written in natural language, together with the code in your project, and works on it as an agent. It writes a structured plan with requirements, design and delivery stages before changing code, and the plan is saved as editable files in .junie/plans. It can also run migrations and upgrades, such as Spring Boot upgrades, and add test coverage.

People use Junie from the terminal through Junie CLI, or inside IDEs through Air in IDEs. Its distinct features are Live Prompting, which lets you change direction mid-task, and Human in the Loop, which asks you to approve key actions. Remote Control lets a task run asynchronously so you can monitor progress from a web app, and Custom Guidelines & Skills store your team's coding standards across sessions.

Junie suits developers who want a coding agent in their terminal or supported JetBrains environment. Junie Lite provides a free entry point, and bring-your-own-key use is billed by the selected model provider. JetBrains AI plans provide separate credit allowances and top-ups. Choose the appropriate operating-system installer, review the planned changes, and use approval controls for consequential actions.
